left intact, and instead of universal health care, they got obamacare. mr. obama's not running for office, a whole new feisty brand of populism is sweeping the party. firebrands like warren along with new york city's new mayor, bill de blasio, are some of the darlings. centrists from the think tank third way warned against moving to the extreme left in a scathing "wall street journal" op-ed that said, quote: >> r eporter: former president bill clinton deliberately picked fights with far-left liberals to cast himself and the party as more mainstream. both parties face this. listen to a warning for his own party, democrats, from indiana u.s. senator even bye. >> i do think you're going to see a more activist, liberal wig of the democratic party, and you may see them playing the same role in democratic primary contests that the tea party has played on the republican side where you have anti-establishment, more ideologically pure, for lack of a better word, candidates running which then lead to less electable nominees. >> reporter: so centrists are warning the liberal progressives

, health care? >> democrats wonder in poll, which party do you want to see in democrats? obama versus mccain, obama, definitely. they went in, used their power to implement and missed a backlash for doing something that in the polls in 2008 would have been very popular. >> i wonder if some democrats say, you know, health care was supposed to be popular. too. >> here's my favorite political point of all time, which is that both parties fear their flanks but in different ways. republicans fear the republicans have feared the far right in the sense of oh, no, we better appease them. >> they lose primaries. >> democrats fear the left of their party, oh, we don't want to be associated which them. you see this sort of play out in election after election. we don't want to seem like we are which those people when, in fact, that is who elects presidents. >> that is the democratic base and increaseingly, every poll shows they are representing more and more of this populist unmet node early. >> that is right. when democrats start losing primaries, everyone can criticize the president. that stinks.

and neither is president obama. >> president obama who actually uses the term obamacare. there she is painting it to be another word -- it's obamacare. you can't really call it the affordable care act because as we've learned today, it's not affordable. >> remember hillary clinton had a plan. it was called hillary plan. was that antiwomen. remember when reagan's economic plan came forward, including david stockman was upset about it. they called it reagonomics. what about nick -- nixonan. it is reflective of the person who put their plan forward. >> was hillary care sexist? i think when obamacare was being used and a number supported it the connotation was positive. now that you have an administration with an anemic approval rating, those that are in support of the president and obamacare are sidestepping or back stepping away from the term because the connotation is no longer positive. >> if you use the term obamacare, according to her, it sounds like she's saying you're a racist. >> hop on facebook, i know you probably missed the show, and tell me if you think she's right on the money or not
